CIPP Lining

Cured-in-Place-Pipe (CIPP) is an effective form of trenchless pipe repair and replacement that can solve a wide variety of problems.

While other pipe services focus on replacing the entire pipe, or using a liner inside it, CIPP techniques involve creating an entirely new pipe inside the old one. While CIPP is effective, it may not be the ideal solution for every situation. Our technical experts can help you determine the best solution to meet your pipe repair and replacement needs.

What Is CIPP Lining?

Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining is a method of trenchless rehabilitation and restoration used in the repair of existing pipes. CIPP is a fully structural solution designed to handle all live loads.

Insta-Pipe specifically uses UV-light cured CIPP consisting of a glass reinforced plastic (GRP) tube with a layer of either polyester or vinyl ester resin encapsulated between the inner outer walls of the tube.

Manufacturing and Installation Process: Dry tube is saturated at a wet-out facility through a process where the material is processed through a resin-bath and encapsulated within the walls of tube with layers of glass and wrapped in a light-protective outer foil. The ‘wet’ tube is placed into a crate or tote and delivered to either Insta-Pipe’s storage facility or the job site. Saturated GRP tube has a shelf life of 6 months and greater.

The saturated tube is pulled through a pipeline using a constant tension winch. The tube can be folded to enable the insertion through standard access openings without the need to remove the structure’s cone. Once the tube is pulled through the pipe, a specially designed can is attached to each end of the tube enabling the tube to be inflated against the host pipe, then a light-train is pulled through the tube for a visual inspection prior to curing, then pulled back through the opposite direction with UV-lights activated curing the encapsulated resin producing a new pipe within the old pipe.

The new CIPP is capable of being independently structural without relying on the host pipe for structural integrity.

We offer a comprehensive range of CIPP solutions, including:

CIPP, designed for a 50-year service life and capable of lasting beyond a hundred years, is the No.1 go to for mainline rehabilitation. CIPP has proven to be far more cost effective than traditional open cut methods and produces a jointless, fully structural pipe within the old pipe. The strength of CIPP enables a very thin wall (typically less than ¼-inch thick), therefore maintaining most of the original diameter and with an improved Manning’s coefficient of 0.010, actually improves the pipelines hydraulic capacity.

CIPP for lateral service connection lines (lateral-lining) is a similar method to CIPP for mainlines, however designed for smaller diameters ranging from 3-inch to 6-inch pipe that services buildings or homes. Lateral CIPP can be installed from a single point of access using a blind termination at the connection to the mainline.

Insta-Pipe uses a unique UV-cured CIPP technology to cure a glass reinforced seal, structurally bonding the mainline CIPP to the lateral CIPP for a complete solution capable of preventing root-intrusion and infiltration while extending the life of the connection.

When and Why It’s Used

There are many different applications to use CIPP. If you have a large gap in your pipe, or a dozen small leaks that all need to be taken care of at once, or even some troublesome tree roots that keep coming back, CIPP can help you. That’s why we work so hard to make sure that you have access to the best CIPP services available. Once you experience how effective a solution it is, you’ll understand why we highly recommend it.
